KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 1 — Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has announced the appointment of Datuk Mohd Izani Ghani as its managing director effective today.
Izani, whom the Finance Ministry nominated for the position, is a former company board member, where he served for nine years from 2011 to 2019.
“He holds a Bachelor of Science (Economics) specialising in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science, the United Kingdom.
“He has over three decades of extensive investment and management experience, and before his appointment at Malaysia Airports, he served as UEM Group Bhd managing director since August 1, 2019, following his initial appointment as executive director on Jan 1, 2019,” MAHB said in a statement.
Before his tenure at UEM Group, Izani also held the position of executive director of investments at Khazanah Nasional Bhd, during which time he headed the Turkey Regional Office and led several landmark sukuk transactions as its chief financial officer.
MAHB chairman Nungsari Ahmad Radhi expressed his confidence in the new appointment, as Izani’s experience in the airport aviation and infrastructure sector, coupled with his proven leadership, will steer the group towards continued growth and success.
The board also announced that group chief financial officer Mohamed Rastam Shahrom stepped down from his role yesterday to pursue a new career opportunity.
“Mohamed Rastam, who has served as acting group chief executive officer since October 2023, played a pivotal role in strengthening the group’s financial health and implementing strategic initiatives that enhanced operational efficiency and profitability.
“His leadership and vision were instrumental in navigating the company through the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic,” MAHB said.
