SHAH ALAM, July 31 — A total of 4,042 working mothers in the state have benefited from the MamaKerja incentive, part of the Selangor Unity coalition's manifesto from last year's state election, which provides RM1,000 to assist with childcare costs.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the RM1,000 incentive, aimed at reaching 5,000 recipients, is one of the Unity Government’s promises to deliver in 100 days if re-elected to lead Selangor.

"During the last state election, one of our promises that would be fulfilled within 100 days was to offer RM1,000 to ease the burden on working mothers.

"I am pleased to report that the state government has successfully implemented this through the MamaKerja initiative," he said in a Facebook post today.

As of July 11, MamaKerja has been approved for 4,042 working mothers, with payments directly deposited into their bank accounts.

Amirudin added that applications for MamaKerja are still open to meet the target of 5,000 recipients.

Those interested can apply via http://mamakerja.selangkah.my, as long as the application period remains open.

He said to improve the well-being of mothers, the state government plans to make the MamaKerja incentive an annual programme.

Launched on November 1 last year, MamaKerja was one of the promises of the Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional coalition during the Selangor State Election in August.

The initiative, which has a RM5 million allocation, is designed to assist 5,000 working mothers with three children under 12 years old and a household income not exceeding RM8,000.
