MBSJ aims for over RM331 mln in revenue collection this year

SUBANG JAYA, July 23 — The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) is looking to collect approximately RM331.03 million in revenue and taxes, compared to RM315.03 million last year

Its newly-appointed Mayor Datuk Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim said that as of June, MBSJ had successfully collected RM179.13 million, or 54 per cent of its target.

“I am confident that we can reach the intended target by year's end," he said in his speech after the swearing-in and appointment letter signing to the position today.

Meanwhile, Amirul said MBSJ's estimated operating expenditure for 2024 is RM224.53 million, while its development expenditure is estimated to be RM113.50 million.

“MBSJ always practices prudent spending. Last year, the operating expenditure was RM200.97 million, and the development expenditure was RM107.49 million,” he said.

Amirul's appointment makes him the city's fourth mayor, succeeding Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim, who is now the Shah Alam Mayor.

The ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Mayor Mohd Zulkurnain Che Ali; Deputy Secretary Ismail Salim, Serdang state assemblyman Abbas Salimmi Azmi, Subang Jaya police chief ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat, Serdang police chief ACP A.A. Anbalagan, MBSJ department directors, and council members.

The 47-year old civil servant, a native of Sentul, Kuala Lumpur, received his secondary education at the Victoria Institution, Kuala Lumpur.

He pursued higher education by obtaining a Master of Business Administration from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and a Bachelor of Science from Saint Louis University in St. Louis, the United States.

Amirul also served in the Defence Ministry, the Home Affairs Ministry, the Malaysian Treasury, the Selangor Treasury, and the Gombak District and Land Office, among others.
