Selangor targets RM550,000 in sales during Malaysia Fest 2024 in Singapore

SHAH ALAM, July 22 — The state administration is aiming to net RM550,000 in sales from the 11 entrepreneurs attending the four-day Malaysia Fest in Singapore, which starts on Thursday.

State executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Izham Hashim said the target is higher than the RM332,723.92 recorded in 2022, which was the last time Selangor took part in the expo.

He said the administration estimates a long-term effect of RM1.3 million can be achieved this year until December 2026, following the expansion of market sales access abroad, involving products, the potential of new product exports, and online matching.

“The main products being centred by Selangor is dragon fruit, which is iconic to the Sepang district, a variety of fish crackers and chips, crispy mushroom snacks, probiotic drinks, bird’s nest drinks, and fruit-based cookies (Frukies),” he told the media at the Malaysia Fest 2024 Convoy launch at Data Kemerdekaan Shah Alam here today.

Izham said the state government will bear logistics and rental fees at the expo for all 11 entrepreneurs, estimated to cost RM200,000.

Malaysia Fest 2024, to be held at the Singapore Expo, will centre various food, fashion, beauty and tourism products.

Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority (Fama) chairman Aminuddin Zulkipli earlier said the expo, organised by the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry through Fama, in collaboration with Singapore-based MegaXpress International Pte Ltd, will feature over 300 booths.

Aminuddin said the seventh edition of Malaysia Fest, themed “Explore the Gems of Malaysia”, aims to generate live sales of RM12 million and draw 120,000 visitors.
