State to prioritise long-standing strata ownership issue in coming budget

GOMBAK, July 15 — The issue of strata property ownership will be tackled more vigorously starting next year through the 2025 Selangor Budget, ensuring residents receive proper grants for their owned assets.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state administration will give this matter priority as it has been plaguing owners for the past four decades.

He has instructed the state executive councillor for housing and culture Borhan Aman Shah and the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS) to establish a committee to review the matter, including costs involved.

"This morning, I was in Hulu Kelang and one of the key unresolved issues raised was strata ownership.

"I hope for the tabling of next year's budget, Borhan and LPHS will provide proposals and working papers to resolve this issue throughout Selangor. It may require cooperation with the Federal government and homeowners.

"If we want to properly resolve it, it will require financial commitment. But this is aimed to ensure ownership rights involving assets that hold value in people's lives.

“To solve the people's problems, it's not just about providing financial assistance but addressing the root of the problem," he said at the Rewang Komuniti programme organised by the Selayang Municipal Council here yesterday.

Amirudin gave the state government’s commitment to resolve half of the issue in stages starting next year.

“God willing, strata properties in Gombak will be prioritised. We target not only to resolve title deed paperworks but also finalise ownership of assets that have been delayed for over 30 years.”
