BALING, July 11 — The boy who died after consuming snacks suspected to contain rat poison was laid to rest at the Kampung Banggol Berangan Muslim cemetery yesterday night.

Muhammad Akil Syauqi Nur Sufyan, three, was buried at 9.45pm after his remains taken from the Penang Hospital to his grandparents' house in Kampung Banggol Berangan at 6pm.

About 300 people, including the boy's mother, Nurain Hasnorizal, 25, and family members attended the burial.

The funeral prayer was held at Surau Lebai Ahmad, led by Masjid Al Halimi's imam Abdul Manaf L Saad.

Akil and his brother Muhammad Luth Syauqi, two, fell critically ill after consuming the snacks in Kampung Padang Ubi, Labu Besar, on Sunday (July 7).

The snacks were believed to have been placed on a fence by a farm owner to trap monkeys.
