SHAH ALAM, June 17 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj performed the Hari Raya Aidiladha obligatory prayers at Masjid Tengku Ampuan Jemaah in Bukit Jelutong this morning.

His Royal Highness was accompanied by the Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah.

Welcoming the royal family at the mosque were state administration officials, including state executive councillor for Islamic affairs Mohammad Fahmi Ngah, state executive councillor for infrastructure Izham Hashim, state executive councillor for youth and sports Mohd Najwan Halimi, and state executive councillor for unity Datuk Rizam Ismail.

Meanwhile, the Aidiladha sermon titled "Hajj and Eid al-Adha: The Pinnacle of Remembrance of Allah" reminded Muslims to sincerely perform their sacrificial rituals for the sake of Allah SWT, as demonstrated by the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim and the Prophet Ismail to do so.

Speaking to over 3,000 congregants, Selangor's Deputy Mufti Datuk Miszairi Sitiris said Muslims are also reminded to always remember and praise the greatness of Allah SWT so their hearts become calm and their faith in Him strengthened.

“Muslims who perform the Haj pilgrimage to the House of Allah do so as a sign of their remembrance and consciousness of Allah SWT, and who can learn from Prophet Ibrahim's sacrifice to obeying Allah's command,” he said.

Yesterday, in the Aidiladha special message via the Selangor Royal Office, Their Royal Highnesses emphasised that Muslims must be grateful for Allah's blessings and perform the sacrifice to help the poor while also reflecting on the plight of those less fortunate.

His Royal Highness called on Muslims to fulfil their responsibilities as obedient followers of Islam by strengthening unity and fostering closer relationships.
