Gombak food poisoning: 11 salmonella infection victims stable

KUALA SELANGOR, June 15 — Eleven victims of a food poisoning case in Gombak are still being treated for salmonella infection, said Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.

He said all of them are stable with no serious symptoms.

“The Health Ministry (MOH) did some tests and found out it was a salmonella infection. This food poisoning is unique, and in this particular case, it was acute poisoning and manifested earlier than usual.

“Normally, it takes six to eight hours (for symptoms to begin) but this one, in the case of the victim who died in two hours, means it could have been a massively toxic salmonella poisoning,” he told a press conference after the handing over of Kasih Mama packages here today.

On June 11, the Selangor State Health Department in a statement said the MOG detected salmonella in stool samples of the food poisoning victims.

At the programme today, 300 mothers received Kasih Mama packages containing essential items such as diapers, towels, and breastfeeding and skin care products.

The programme is a strategic collaboration between Shopee and the MOH.
