Exco vows quality education for all, including those with special needs

SHAH ALAM, June 12 — The Selangor government is committed to providing quality education to everyone in the state, especially those with special needs, said state executive councillor for women empowerment and welfare Anfaal Saari.

In a post on X today, Anfaal said the state continues to enhance education for students with special needs, in line with the First Selangor Plan’s second strategic theme of ensuring social inclusivity and caring for the people’s well-being.

One such initiative, she said, is an educators’ workshop on managing the learning behaviours of students with special education needs (MBPK).

“Each child has their unique qualities and specialties, including those with special education needs. As a state executive councillor, I am proud to see the high commitment from the government in developing the potential and enhancing the capacity of teachers and communities involved in special education.

“This noble effort includes training on appropriate strategies and assistive technologies for MBPK. I am confident the knowledge and skills gained will help teachers positively impact the development of children with special needs in their respective schools,” she said today after attending a seminar in conjunction with the workshop.

The two-day workshop was held yesterday and today, with participants comprising educators from the Selangor Special Needs Children Initiative, which organised the event, and the federal Integrated Special Education Programme.

The event was organised in collaboration with the state Education Department, teachers and local community.

Previously, Anfaal said the state government intends to launch an education module designed for children with disabilities.

She said the proposal was tabled by Universiti Teknologi Mara and Permata Kurnia, an organisation advocating the education of disabled children, during a retreat on the module’s development held recently.
