Sabda transforms Sabak Bernam landscape, drives local economy

SABAK BERNAM, June 7 — The Sabak Bernam Development Area (Sabda) under the First Selangor Plan is set to transform the district’s landscape.

Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) social responsibility and corporate communications head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said Sabda, which involves the fishing, agriculture and tourism sectors, will benefit the economy and local demographic.

“Sabda will change this district. According to the Statistics Department, Sabah is the oldest area, not in age, but in the number of elderly residents.

“Sabda has helped create jobs and economic opportunities, which have drawn youth to the area,” said Azri.

He was speaking at a programme to distribute back-to-school aid at the Sabak assembly hall today.

Sabda will soon tackle the public and private sectors to the tune of RM1.9 billion, which can generate an annual income of RM246 million and create 4,000 jobs.

It involves five clusters — adding high-value commodities, providing support services, developing the rural and agro-based industries, strengthening the tourism sector, and enlivening infrastructure development.
