KUALA LUMPUR, May 31 — The Selangor Pavilion at this year’s Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair (PBAKL) is highlighting state initiatives in the areas of housing, environmental sustainability and education.
Selangor Pavilion director Zafrullah Aris said this is to ensure better public awareness of the various functions and services offered by state agencies.
"This time, we are bringing something different. We are collaborating with agencies such as KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd, Worldwide Holdings Bhd, Yayasan Selangor and the Selangor Malay Customs and Heritage Corporation.
"Through this initiative, each agency can explain their functions and services to the public in more detail. This makes it easier for the people to get more information," he told Selangorkini.
The Selangor Pavilion at the PBAKL, which is being held at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, is open daily from 10am to 10pm from May 24 to June 2.
One of the highlights of the pavilion is the Selangor Basic Technology Loan Scheme (Skim Pinjaman Teknologi Asas Selangor or Sepintas), which offers computers and tablets for loan to students, particularly those from low-income families.
"For this fair, we are providing 50 computers and tablets. So far, about 15 borrowers have taken home these devices, and many more are still available.
"If eligible, an applicant can immediately take the device home. The loan period is six months," he said.
Launched in August 2022, Sepintas aims to bridge the digital divide among students by offering computer loans for a specified period.
The initiative is part of Selangor's efforts to ensure equitable access to digital technology and enhance educational opportunities.
