SHAH ALAM, May 25 — The state government has allocated RM6 million for korban activties in Selangor in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidiladha festival this year.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the allocation includes 1,000 goats and 700 cows distributed to state representatives, mosques, suraus, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

“Alhamdulillah (God willing), every year, the state government would carry out korban activities and distribute them to those in need in the state.

“We hope the cows and goats handed over to the recipients will be used for korban and not for other purposes,” he said when met at the opening ceremony and handing over of the Selangor Korban Contribution at Dewan Raja Muda Musa, here today.

Meanwhile, state executive councillor for agriculture Izham Hashim said in his speech that 22 companies will supply cows and 25 companies will supply goats for the programme.

“We urge the suppliers to comply with the conditions set by the state administration, which includes supplying a minimum of 270 kilogrammes of cows and 100 kilogrammes (of goats).

“There were several suppliers in the previous years who were not honest. We hope it does not repeat because this is a righteous act of sacrifice demanded in Islam,” he stated.

State subsidiaries involved in sponsoring the programme include the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS), Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI, and Permodalan Negeri Selangor Bhd.

Others include Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), Semesta Group Sdn Bhd, Worldwide Holdings Bhd, Central Spectrum Sdn Bhd, Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Bhd, and KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd.
