PUTRAJAYA, May 7 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said it will look into allegations against Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming with regard to his announcement of fund allocations for infrastructure development in Kuala Kubu Baharu (KKB).
MACC chief Tan Sri Azam Baki said the commission will investigate whether the announcement was related to bribery.
“The matter will be looked into by the MACC’s complaints centre. Until now, no investigation papers have been opened,” he said after the launch of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy 2024-2028 at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre here today.
Nga on April 18 reportedly said his ministry had allocated RM5.21 million to upgrade public infrastructure, including 14 projects worth RM4.82 million in the Chinese New Village Project in Hulu Selangor, under the supervision of the local municipal council.
The minister made the announcement during a visit to KKB, ahead of the April 27 start date for the by-election campaigning period.
Speaking of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s case, Azam said there were no immediate plans to arrest the former Prime Minister in relation to his failure to declare his assets, and that investigations were ongoing.
Azam earlier revealed Mahathir was among several high-profile individuals being investigated by the MACC for failing to declare their assets, saying the MACC had served notices to Mahathir’s sons, Datuk Mirzan Mahathir and Tan Sri Mohkzani Mahathir.
