Good policies, stability draws billions in investment to Selangor — MB

HULU SELANGOR, May 4 — Selangor is able to attract billions of ringgit in investments as a direct result of the policies implemented by the Federal government, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the implementations of the National Energy Policy 2022-2040 and New Industrial Master Plan 2030, coupled with the state's stability, meant that many investors are interested in expanding their presence here.

Amirudin cited the decision by Taiwan’s Phison Electronics Corporation, a leading manufacturer and supplier of controllers for NAND flash memory chips, as an example.

“Because of these policy changes, Selangor recently attracted the semiconductor company to invest RM2 billion, following a four-month discussion starting in January.

“Phison will enter Selangor thanks to the policy changes implemented at the Federal level, as well as the state government's stability," he said in his speech during a mega ceramah in Batang Kali last night.

Amirudin, the Selangor Pakatan Harapan chairman, said the Federal government has also demonstrated its ability to resolve various issues concerning the rakyat, including the supply of chicken and eggs.

“Were there increases in the prices of goods? Yes, but they were (kept) under control. We (the government) started by focusing on the supply.

“If the prices of chicken and fish were high previously, they were kept under control by Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu. Today, the supply of chicken and eggs is plentiful,” he said.

In Selangor, the state government has been organising the Jualan Ehsan Rahmah affordable sales programme, which offers basic necessities at below-market prices.

“We have spent RM50 million, benefitting some eight million residents. Prices of chicken and eggs continue to drop. Past governments and ministers did not do all these,” Amirudin said.

As such, the Menteri Besar remains confident that Selangor will be able to put an end to extreme poverty in the state by July.
