NEW DELHI, March 22 — Malaysia and the Maldives are working on new initiatives to increase the number of Maldivian students in Malaysian universities and grow tourist exchange.
A meeting between Malaysia's High Commissioner to the Maldives, Badli Hisham Adam, and Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development Minister Maryam Mariya focused on enhancing technical and vocational education and training (TVET) cooperation and increasing the number of Maldivian students in Malaysia.
"This initiative aims to fortify educational ties and create more opportunities for our students," the Malaysian High Commission in Colombo said in a social media post on Thursday.
The Malaysian High Commissioner, resident in Colombo, visited the Maldives this week to discuss bilateral cooperation in various areas.
He called on several Maldivian ministers, including Health Minister Abdulla Khaleel, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed, and Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer.
In his meeting with Ahmed Nazim Mohamed, Minister of State for Tourism, Badli Hisham discussed more air links and tourism promotion.
"This collaboration promises to open new horizons for our tourism sectors, making the beauty of our nations more accessible to each other," the Malaysian High Commission said.
