SHAH ALAM, March 20 — A total of 17 tourist attractions across the state will be featured by Tourism Selangor at the upcoming Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) Fair from March 22 to 24.
The state tourism agency will also be offering discounts of up to 50 per cent during the event at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre in Kuala Lumpur, including for theme parks, resorts, eco-attractions and agro-tourism sites.
It added that through its Jom Balik Kampung theme, it would recreate Sekinchan’s paddy field atmosphere at the fair.
“This year’s exhibition will be focused on Selangor’s northern corridor, with Sabak Bernam and Kuala Selangor expected to capture visitors’ attention,” it said in a statement.
According to Tourism Selangor, among the attractions that will be featured are the Hop On Hop Off tourist bus, Rumah Hutan Terapi Alam, GL Play by Gamuda Land, Chocolate Museum, Eastin Hotel, Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort and Jumpstreet Asia.
Others include Farm in the City, Sky Mirror, Farm Fresh@UPM, Selangor Fruit Valley, Wet World Shah Alam, KSL Esplanade Hotel, Nur Lembah Pangsun, and Cyberview Resort and Spa.
The agency added that it will also showcase a wau kapal performance and pounded peanut candy demonstration by Heritaste during the fair, to promote small and medium enterprises.
"In line with sustainable development goals, this year's theme emphasises the importance of local tourism products and communities in Selangor," it said.
During the last Matta Fair in September, the Selangor Pavilion recorded RM1.03 million in sales, its highest ever throughout its 12 years of participation.
Over 80,000 individuals visited the pavilion during the three-day exhibition then, surpassing its target by 10,000.
