SHAH ALAM, March 7 — Selat Klang assemblyman Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari’s declaration of support for the state government is a testament to the performance of the administration under the leadership of Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
This is according to Selangor Backbenchers Club (BBC) chairman Azmizam Zaman Huri, who welcomed the decision by the Perikatan Nasional (PN) lawmaker to back the Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional government.
“This decision is a clear signal that the Selangor administration is on the right track,” the Pelabuhan Klang assemblyman said in a statement today.
“It also indicates that he (Rashid) wants to work together to build a brighter future for the people, especially voters in Selat Klang.”
Azmizam said Selangor BBC also welcomes close cooperation with all assemblymen, both in and outside of the State Legislative Assembly, regardless of their political ideology.
This, he said, is to ensure the well-being and unity of all parties.
Yesterday, Rashid issued a statement declaring his support for the Selangor administration, citing PN’s silence over the recent alleged display of insolence by PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang towards the Malay Rulers as among the reasons.
“This decision was made voluntarily, without any coercion. It was after I carefully examined the Sultan of Selangor’s speech, which praised the administration of the Selangor government for its commitment to the state’s progress and the people’s well-being.
“This is also in response to the actions of PN, particularly the state chapter, that chose to remain silent against accusations directed at the Malay Rulers. This goes against Malay-Muslim principles,” he had said.
Previously, Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj issued a stern rebuke against Hadi via a letter on February 27, after the PAS leader’s comments towards the Malay Rulers following the recent Federal Court decision declaring several Kelantan Syariah laws unconstitutional was perceived as disrespectful.
