SHAH ALAM, March 1 — The Rumah Selangorku project in Morib, Kuala Langat, which faced years-long delays, is set to be completed by December this year, the State Legislative Assembly was told.

State executive councillor for housing Borhan Aman Shah said the developer, Sentoria Bhd, previously faced issues with the bank guarantee payment, which has since been resolved.

The state and Federal governments have also convened multiple meetings and conducted site visits to the project in question, Rumah Selangorku Pangsapuri Morib Anggun, to monitor its progress and ensure its smooth implementation.

“The delays occurred due to issues with the developer’s payment of the bank guarantee, in which they were originally supposed to pay RM18 million.

“However, thanks to the discretion of the Menteri Besar (Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari), the state government has granted some flexibility,” he said.

This has allowed the developer to settle the bank guarantee to the respective utility companies, and a new investor is set to inject a significant amount of funds into the project.

Borhan was responding to a question from Morib state assemblyman Rosnizan Ahman on the project’s prolonged delay, which was initially scheduled for completion in 2020.

Previously, on February 20, the councillor said the developer had been given a 50 per cent discount on utility bills following a recommendation by Amirudin to offer some leeway.

He added the project delay mainly stemmed from Sentoria’s change in directorship and a pending new agreement between the company and state government.

Following the new appointment, the state is renegotiating with the developer.

“The previous director promised that it would be completed within a year. However, since there is a new director, we need to review the agreement,” Borhan said.

However, he assured that the state government would monitor the project’s progress to ensure it did not fall under the abandoned and sick projects category.
