Search for top 50 MSMEs kicks off with Enterprise 50 Award 2024

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 27 — SME Corp Malaysia’s launch of the 2024 Enterprise 50 (E50) award marks the beginning of the yearly search for the top 50 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Malaysia.

“MSMEs need to integrate their business operations with environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles as this is becoming significant and will be the future trend globally,” said Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick who launched the programme today.

He said a new special award, the Best E50 Award for ESG Practice, will be introduced this year, underscoring the importance of sustainability and ESG practices.

The existing Best E50 Award for Woman Entrepreneur and the Best E50 Award for Exporter remain, the statement said.

SME Corp Malaysia chairman Tan Sri Bernard Giluk Dompok said the programme has attracted 2,225 participants to date and established a winners’ fraternity comprising 763 companies, of which 67 have been listed in the capital market, adding prestige to the programme.

SME chief executive officer Rizal Nainy said the award has promoted and showcased the most competitive and resilient of MSMEs, capable of facing global challenges in true entrepreneurial spirit.

This year’s award, themed “Celebrating Malaysia’s Enterprising Spirit”, marks its 24th year and is jointly organised with Deloitte Malaysia.

Since its inception in 1997, the award has gained industrial recognition as one of the most coveted and credible platforms that symbolise achievements in business and entrepreneurship.

Companies are invited to submit their nomination online via the Sistem Bersepadu Penarafan & Insentif PMKS (MyBPI) platform before June 30, 2024.
