KLANG, Feb 18 — Some 5,000 visitors thronged the Royal Klang City Carnival at Kompleks Sukan Pandamaran last night.
Running for three days starting on Friday (February 16), the carnival, officiated by the state executive councillor for local government Dato' Ng Suee Lim, was also attended by Mayor Datin Paduka Noraini Roslan.
The carnival's opening ceremony highlight, held in conjunction with the declaration of Klang as the Royal Klang City Council (MBDK), was a fireworks display for the visitors, which lasted nearly five minutes.

Singers Kaka Azraf, Black Hanifah, Hazama, and Ella also added to the festivity, while Nabil Ahmad and Shiha Zikir served as hosts.
Also present were Port Klang state assemblyman Azmizam Zaman Huri and Pandamaran state assemblyman Leong Tuck Chee.
In her speech, Noraini said the carnival aimed to share and celebrate with Klang's residents now that it has been declared a city.
"The carnival serves as a platform for cooperation at all levels, thereby realising MBDK's motto, which is Unity as the Foundation of Prosperity (Perpaduan Asas Kemakmuran).
"With this carnival, we hope to maintain the values of unity and well-being among the Klang community," she said at the opening ceremony.
The carnival's other activities include food festivals, soopa-doopa, football clinics, colouring contests, lucky draws, e-sports competitions, and three-on-three netball matches.
On February 5, the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj formally officiated MBDK's declaration ceremony.
His Royal Highness also announced the appointment of Datin Paduka Noraini Roslan as MBDK's mayor, effective since November 23 last year.
