SHAH ALAM, Dec 23 — The uniqueness of several traditional villages in Pandamaran could potentially make the state constituency a tourist destination.
Its state assemblyman Leong Tuck Chee said that despite being a small town located between Banting and Port Klang, Pandamaran has several locations with their own uniqueness.
"It is not just (limited to) Little India Klang or shopping centres like GM Klang, but there are several traditional villages which can be developed into tourism products, thus boosting the residents' economy through this sector.
"I see several heritage villages, including Malay, Indian, and Chinese, still preserved, and if upgrading works are carried out in those areas, it will attract foreign tourists who genuinely admire Malaysia's culture," he said.
Leong added the proposal to strengthen Pandamaran's tourism sector would be extended via a series of discussions with the Malaysian Inbound Tourism Association (Mita)
"We are in talks with Mita to attract foreign tourists entering through the Port Klang Cruise Terminal.
"Tourists can stop by Pandamaran and the surrounding areas of Klang without going to Kuala Lumpur for sightseeing.
"At the least, they can stay overnight in Klang, presenting an opportunity for local residents to generate income through tourism," he said.
