AMPANG JAYA, Dec 17 — Businesses and entrepreneurs in Selangor are encouraged to participate in digital skills empowerment programmes to enhance their capabilities and expand their respective businesses.
State executive councillor for innovation cultivation Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah said 3,300 Selangor residents have participated in the Jelajah Saya Digital (JSD) programme organised by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) since last year.
Of this number, 547 participants have mastered digital skills, enabling them to increase sales and achieve high incomes.
"We thank MDEC for helping Selangor natives, and their success should be an example to all, especially other entrepreneurs, to improve household economies and generate the state's economy as a whole," he said.
Dr Fahmi's speech was read by his policy officer Ya Asrul Yaman Kijas at JSD@Selangor 2023 officiation at Dewan Dato' Ahmad Razali earlier today, which was attended by MDEC chairman Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh.
He added that to drive the digital community, JSD targets the participation of the B40 group, youths, entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized businesses, as well as senior citizens.
"It will increase public awareness of digital technology, their ability to enjoy a smart lifestyle, and provide equal opportunities not only to urban communities but also to those in rural areas," Dr Fahmi said.
JSD is part of the Saya Digital Campaign introduced by MDEC in August 2021 to help improve digital skills among the people and foster widespread awareness to empower the digital economy ecosystem.
Among the programs provided by MDEC through JSD include the eUsahawan, eRezeki, and Global Online Workforce (Glow) programmes.
