SHAH ALAM, Dec 15 — A total of 189 unlicensed preschool and childcare centres operating under the administration of the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) have been offered a conditional temporary business licence as of October.

MPAJ president Ani Ahmad said the regularisation programme includes daycares, tahfiz centres and welfare homes that comply with the specified conditions set by the local council.

Among the conditions are that premises must not be located near road intersections, do not cause traffic disruptions during peak hours, and are only allowed to operate in corner lots if they are situated in residential areas.

"The temporary licence allows these premises to operate legally. However, they are required to produce additional documents to us within six months.

"These documents include planning permission certificate and approval or permit from the Social Welfare Department and Selangor Education Department.

"They must also comply with all the conditions set before a full business licence is issued," she said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Ani noted that MPAJ had recently conducted a briefing session pertaining to the regularisation programme at Auditorium MPAJ on December 2 to provide further clarity to centre operators.

Among the points that were given emphasis during the briefing session, she said, were the process for application, as well as the necessary documents required to obtain the temporary licence.

"MPAJ invites all operators that have been offered the conditional temporary business licence to take part in this regularisation programme."

Those who wish to obtain further information pertaining to the programme can contact MPAJ's Town Planning Department at 03-42857008.
