KLANG, Dec 11 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding the special rights of the Malays and the sanctity of Islam while simultaneously ensuring the welfare of its diverse, multi-religious populace.
In the loyalty address before Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, in conjunction with His Royal Highness’ 78th birthday celebration today, he pledged his government’s commitment to upholding the Federal and state constitutions.
Amirudin expressed the state administration’s dedication to fostering unity and harmony among Selangor's varied demographics.
"The people have fulfilled their responsibility and chosen the Unity Government to continue governing the state,” he said, in reference to the victory by the Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional alliance in the recent state election.
“This coalition of multiple races and religions demonstrates the people want to see the plans and visions that have been presented continue to be implemented for the state's prosperity.
"On behalf of the Unity Government that administers Selangor, I pledge our unwavering loyalty to His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor and the Malay rulers.
“We are committed to upholding the Federal Constitution and the Laws of the Constitution of Selangor, the special rights of the Malays, and the sanctity of Islam,” Amirudin said at Balairong Seri in Istana Alam Shah.
In his address, the Menteri Besar cited some of Selangor’s efforts to elevate the status of Islam, including by organising the inaugural Festival Turath Islami in May this year.
"Our goal is to advance Selangor's stature, bolstering the resilience and competitiveness of the Malay community, ensuring they thrive alongside other races while adhering to the principles of the Quran and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad,” he said.
Additionally, Amirudin highlighted the state government's plans to enhance support for Hajj pilgrims, transitioning from the provision of cash allowance this year to the implementation of the Hajj subsidy next year, which will be done in collaboration with Lembaga Tabung Haji.
