eMadani credit helps visitors shop at Madani Govt anniversary event

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 10 — Visitors who have recently received the RM100 eMadani credit are using it to purchase food and kitchen essentials at the Madani Government One Year Anniversary Programme.

Checks by Bernama found that visitors are using the credit for cashless purchases, using the Touch ‘n Go e-wallet or Maybank MAE applications.

A visitor, Muhd Alif Mohd Azrul, 22, from Kajang, said that he redeemed the eMadani credit yesterday to buy various food items at the entrepreneurs' booths.

“With the eMadani credit, I can shop without having to carry cash. All I have to do is scan the QR code via MAE at the retailer's booth,” he told Bernama here, today.

With a remaining balance of RM60, Muhd Alif plans to make the most of it by exploring the booths set up by entrepreneurs, and buying products for his mother from small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Another visitor, Siti Fatimah Ismail, 49, from Wangsa Maju, said that the eMadani initiative helps housewives like her to shop for kitchen essentials at the Madani Mega Sale, without having to withdraw cash.

“I have bought a Madani combo that includes wheat flour, eggs and vegetables, as well as washing powder, kitchen paper and various other items on offer," she said.

The mother of three said that this was the first time she received such assistance, and used it for her family.

Meanwhile, Norazlin Sahat, a 49-year-old trader, said that many visitors, especially from the Klang Valley, came to her booth and made purchases online since the three-day programme started on Friday.

“I welcome customers to pay cashless because it's easier and faster. We don’t have to prepare cash to give the buyer the balance too,” said Norazlin, who sells beef and chicken kebabs.
