Govt agencies to further cooperate, ensure Padu has complete data for targeted aid

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 6 — Strategic cooperation between government agencies will be increased to ensure the Central Database Hub (Padu) system has complete data profiles and is utilised as a monitoring and overview tool for the government to furnish targeted aid.

Deputy Economy Minister Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib said the Padu system's development was approved during the Cabinet meeting on June 21 this year to strengthen Malaysia's governance towards a more comprehensive and systematic ecosystem.

"Padu can display the people's socioeconomic level based on income, profession, education and type of assistance received.

"This will aid the government to formulate data-driven initiatives and policies more effectively and enable the people to benefit from policies that are better planned and targeted," she told the Dewan Negara today.

Hanifah was replying to Senator Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof's question concerning the government's efforts to complete integrated data gathering to provide targeted assistance.

Padu, expected to be launched in January next year, will consolidate micro-data from various government agencies to create individual and household data profiles of all Malaysians.

"It is estimated that 454 public sector institutions comprising ministries, departments, and government agencies have their own data hubs.

"Government agencies operating at the state and district levels also have high-frequency granular data until the locality level. Therefore, the involvement of all government agencies is important to ensure Padu's success," she added.
