SHAH ALAM, Dec 2 — A concrete bridge will be constructed in Kampung Sungai Samak, Rawang, next year to facilitate farmers in the area, said its state assemblyman Chua Wei Kiat.

The bridge's construction, which will cost RM100,000, will also replace a 30-metre wooden bridge which collapsed due to heavy rain on Saturday (November 25).

"Heavy rain on the day of the incident caused the river's water to flow rapidly, and the bridge, built by farmers eight years ago, collapsed. This situation has created problems for farmers on the main access route.

"I have requested the District and Land Office (PDT) allocate funds to construct a stronger bridge next year. Work will commence as soon as the request is approved and the measurement process completed," he told SelangorKini yesterday.

Chua added that while upgrading is underway, farmers must use a longer alternative route to enter and exit the agricultural land.

Meanwhile, he also plans to establish a traditional village in the area, currently inhabited by about 70 families, the majority of whom are Malay.

"There is a need for it, given that the village already exists, but there is no village head and the infrastructure needs improvement. The Gombak District and Land Office has been asked to prepare the necessary paperwork," he said.
