SHAH ALAM, Nov 30 — The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), in collaboration with the Lions Convention, planted over 50 trees of various species in Taman Warisan, Setia Alam.
It said this greening programme, in collaboration with the non-governmental organisation, aims to strengthen awareness and commitment to environmental sustainability.
"PKNS and Lions Convention jointly implemented this programme as a positive step in preserving natural beauty while creating meaningful green spaces for the local community.
"It also aims to support the national agenda through the Planting 100 Million Trees Campaign by 2025 and the Planting 26 Million Trees Campaign in Selangor," said the state subsidiary in a statement yesterday.
The trees that were planted in the 13.92-acre park include rosy trumpets (Tabebuia pentaphylla), Bongor trees (Lagerstroemia langkawinensis), and Eucalyptus trees.
The ceremony was officiated by PKNS' deputy chief executive officer (property development) Md Kamarzan Md Rais, and Lions Convention committee chairman Michel Yee.
The first phase of Taman Warisan's development, covering 8.46 acres, includes various facilities like a boardwalk, a football field, a multipurpose court, a plaza, and three types of playgrounds.
The second phase, expected to begin construction in December, encompasses 5.46 acres and will include facilities like jogging trails, integrated playgrounds, and shaded areas.
