MPHS directs project developers to investigate road shoulder collapse incident

SHAH ALAM, 30 Nov 30 — The developers of a construction project have been directed to investigate the actual ownership of the utility pipes which recently ruptured, leading to a landslide on the main road shoulder of Bandar Sungai Buaya in Hulu Selangor.

The Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS) said they inspected the incident site yesterday, together with three developers, including Brem Construction Sdn Bhd, Semangat Hijau Sdn Bhd, and MJD Land Sdn Bhd.

"This matter has been reported to Indah Water Consortium (IWK) for further action. The developers are also trying to assist by conducting a comprehensive investigation to determine the utility pipes' actual owner if they do not belong to IWK," it said in a statement today.

The statement addressed recent media reports claiming that Kampung Sungai Buaya road users were alarmed when a landslide occurred on the main road leading to the residential and industrial areas.

A non-governmental organisation also urged the relevant authorities not to tarry in identifying the agency responsible for taking action after the incident came to public awareness earlier this month.

MPHS added the incident location is the construction project's main access, involving the three companies, in addition to the IWK sewage treatment plant and Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd for the water tank.

It said that, at the initial stage, the road had not been handed over by the original developer who developed the Bandar Sungai Buaya area before MPHS received the application and approved green infrastructure plans by the three developers in 2020.

"As a result, the road was stipulated by the developers to be completed before handing over to the council," MPHS said.
