PUTRAJAYA, Nov 25 — Introducing the Public Sector Governance Act and the Integrity Plan can form a foundation to develop a more sustainable nation through good governance practices.
Federal Territories Parti Keadilan Rakyat Youth deputy chief Noor Amelia Zainabila Zaiffri said the Act would boost integrity amongst workers, especially civil servants, and help government anti-corruption efforts.
“I have big hopes this new Act will cover all the loopholes and gaps in existing acts. We do not want to have a lot of anti-corruption legislation, but what is more important is strict enforcement in tackling corruption,” she said.
Noor Amelia was speaking at the 2023 Keadilan Youth Annual National Congress, held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre today.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had previously announced the government’s intention to introduce the legislation to serve as a corruption-free governance guide for all public and private entities, and the government is committed to rehabilitating Malaysia’s image internationally as an anti-corruption country.
Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan Keadilan Youth secretary S. Sugumaran suggested more Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) related universities be created to strengthen the TVET field.
Such a move would lead to the developing of a quality, marketable workforce.
In addition, he added that the practical training period for university students should be increased to fulfil industry needs.
