SUBANG JAYA, Nov 22 — The development of the Greater Klang Valley involves four local authorities in Selangor, which will facilitate smooth administration for the benefit of its residents and business communities.
Subang Jaya Mayor Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim said the consolidation of administration for Subang Jaya, Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya, and Klang next year via the Greater Klang Valley Enactment could also standardise the licensing processes.
This approach also speeds the transition from private vehicles to public transportation, optimising government resources and eliminating redundancies.
"Efficient administration for all four local authorities is necessary as 50 per cent of Selangor's population resides in these areas, which also hosts the majority of industries," he said during the Subang Jaya City Council's (MBSJ) 11th full meeting today.
The 2024 Selangor Budget, tabled by Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari on November 10, allocated RM2 million to establish the Greater Klang Valley administration, encompassing the four cities via the Greater Klang Valley Enactment.
He said the system is designed to address the various major industries in the cities and its challenges, including public transportation issues, land ownership, and community welfare.
Meanwhile, Fauzi welcomed the establishment of the Local Authorities Service Commission, expected in the third quarter of next year, which will allow a local authority's personnel to transfer to another local authority in the state.
"From an employment perspective, currently, the local authorities operate as a closed service, so with this commission, they can move towards mobility, and public servants can be transferred to other local authorities.
"MBSJ welcomes this initiative as it indirectly encourages a spirit of work while providing new incentives and boosting the staff's confidence," he added.
