SHAH ALAM, Nov 22 — The state government has allocated RM100,000 to upgrade sports infrastructure in 56 state constituencies, said state executive councillor for housing Borhan Aman Shah.
An additional RM200,000 will be distributed to construct new sports facilities like futsal courts.
He said this does not include RM250,000 earmarked for repairing and building football fields in all state constituencies.

"The total budget for upgrading and maintaining infrastructure under sports associations involved in the Malaysian Games (Sukma) is RM1 million, under the condition these facilities are also open to the public," Borhan said.
He was responding to a query from Bukit Melawati state assemblyman Datuk Noorazley Yahya, who asked about the allocation limit for upgrading ageing sports arenas in each state constituency during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly session today.
Borhan added the implementation of construction and repair projects for sports infrastructure is carried out by the Selangor State Sports Council (MSNS).
"Therefore, there is no allocation channel for the local authorities to improve infrastructure as MSNS carries it out according to the Selangor State Executive Council's decision during its meeting on February 17, 2021.
"However, the local authorities also allocate funds to maintain sports facilities in areas under their respective jurisdiction," he said.
