SHAH ALAM, Nov 20 — Developers in Selangor that fail to comply with the Bumiputera quota requirement face possible blacklisting and fine, said state executive councillor for housing Borhan Aman Shah.
He said this is to ensure the quota requirement is met, as stipulated under the Selangor housing blueprint.
"If developers fail to adhere to this condition or if they have exceeded the sale of non-Bumiputera units, the process for 'blanket consent' or 'blanket approval' cannot proceed.
"Developers will be blacklisted from making any applications for Bumiputera quota exemptions at the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS) and will incur heavier fines," he said at the State Legislative Assembly sitting today.
He was responding to a question from Subang Jaya assemblyman Michelle Ng pertaining to the sale of Bumiputer lots to non-Bumis.
According to Borhan, the state government has retained the existing mechanism to determine the percentage of Bumiputera quota ownership, guided by the state's housing blueprint.
He said regulations on Bumiputera quota are imposed during the approval process of land ownership and changes in land use conditions, which will be sanctioned by the state executive council.
"Developers need to ensure conditions on the Bumiputera quota are fulfilled during the process of property sales.
"The Selangor Land and Mines Office will conduct an assessment during the application for 'blanket consent' or 'blanket approval' by developers," he said.
