SHAH ALAM, Nov 15 — The state government is taking a bold step in identifying and blacklisting problematic housing developers in Selangor, said state executive councillor for housing Borhan Aman Shah.

He said there are currently 176 abandoned housing projects in Selangor involving 35,995 units, with the majority encountering land and infrastructure-related challenges in completing construction.

“The state government has taken stern action against problematic housing developers by identifying the names of its board directors through the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM).

“They have been blacklisted, and their names submitted to all local authorities using the Selangor Housing and Property Board’s (LPHS) developers’ registration system,” Borhan said during the State Legislative Assembly sitting today.

Under the system, developers seeking to initiate housing projects must register themselves within 30 days of obtaining planning approval from the local authorities.

He was responding to questions from Dengkil state assemblyman Datuk Seri Jamil Salleh on the actions taken by the state government in dealing with abandoned housing projects and its statistics in Selangor.

The councillor stressed that all blacklisted developers will not be permitted to undertake any development activities in the state.

This restriction also applies if the blacklisted individuals hold shares in other development companies.
