SHAH ALAM, Oct 27 — The state government has approved a RM10 million emergency allocation to facilitate repair and restoration works at Taman Bukit Mewah, Kajang, following a recent landslide that left local residents worried.

Speaking to the press, state executive councillor for infrastructure Izham Hashim said the allocation would be utilised to repair the slope, identified as the landslide’s cause earlier this week.

The repair efforts will primarily focus on stabilising the slope at the landslide site in light of its unstable condition, which has persisted for quite some time and poses a growing safety risk to residents.

"This matter (unstable soil condition) has been (occurring) for a while now. However, in the past two or three days, the erosion has become more serious, with visible soil movement.

“27 houses have been identified for evacuation, and urgent repair works will be carried out immediately since this is an emergency situation,” he said after attending a mock cheque handover ceremony for the Palestinian people at the State Secretariat Building today.

Izham added that affected residents would be temporarily accommodated in rental houses managed by the Kajang Municipal Council.
