SHAH ALAM, Oct 26 — More than 30,000 women in Selangor, both working and non-working, have benefitted from several support assistance programmes introduced by the state government.

State executive councillor for women's development Anfaal Saari said they are covered under the Asuh Pintar childcare assistance scheme, which provides a RM100 subsidy annually for daycare or childcare centre fees and benefits 505 recipients.

Another assistance program is the Selangor Kindergarten Assistance Scheme (Tunas), which provides a direct RM50 subsidy to registered kindergartens, benefiting 2,174 individuals and has been in place since 2012.

"In addition, the Bantuan Kehidupan Sejahtera Selangor (Bingkas) initiative provides a monthly RM300 cash grant for two years to 27,000 families with incomes of under RM3,000 monthly.

"This includes a RM1,000 incentive for MamaKerja launched today, which targets 5,000 working women," she said at Mardhiyyah Hotel.

After the launch of the MamaKerja childcare incentive, Anfaal said the state government has taking steps to develop support systems for mothers for some time.

In line with the First Selangor Plan, she said the state's five-year development plan outlines at least 12 programmes to support family well-being, including the Selangor Special Needs Children (AnIS) initiative, Didik AnIS, special education, and therapy incentives for special needs children.

"We will continue to develop policies and strategic programmes to elevate women's development and family welfare.

"I believe that with a comprehensive and sustainable support system, women can become significant contributors to Malaysia's productivity and economy," she said.
