PETALING JAYA, Oct 25 — The Malaysian Athletics Federation (MAF) received a RM5 million boost after signing a three-year sponsorship agreement with Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad (Cahya Mata) today.
The sponsorship agreement will see Cahya Mata and MAF focus on the well-being of champion athletes, strengthen financial and resource support, promote leadership and character, and train and educate young athletes.
MAF president Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said the sponsorship will play a crucial role in helping them achieve their goals of developing national athletes.
"This funding is very important support in providing financial backing and resources through athlete coaching and development. This is a major sponsor, specifically for these purposes.
"With this support, achievements and success in sports will continue to become a reality, bringing more gold medals and pride to Malaysia,” he said at a press conference after the signing of the sponsorship agreement between the MAF and Cahya Mata Sarawak.
Cahya Mata Group chairman Tan Sri Mohd Zahidi Zainuddin hopes the sponsorship can help the MAF realise their vision and mission of producing more athletes at the grassroots level.
Cahya Mata is a company manufacturing building materials in Sarawak.
