KL police dispose of RM8.89 mln in drugs

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 25 — Various drugs worth RM8.89 million, seized in the capital from 2001 and 2021, will be disposed of today, said Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid.

An appointed contractor in Bukit Pelanduk, Negeri Sembilan, will carry out the disposal.

“The disposal process involves 2,894 investigation papers, in which trials have already been completed.

“The drugs included methamphetamine weighing 36.1 kg; heroin (34.1 kg); cannabis (72.2 kg), ketamine (1.5 kg), and ketum water (mitragynine) 871,579 ml,” he said at a press conference in the Kuala Lumpur police contingent headquarters (IPK) today.

The disposed drugs' total estimated was 325.3 kg and 907,589 ml, while the total market price of all the drugs was estimated at RM8.89 million, which could be used by 250,000 addicts.

Meanwhile, in Pahang, the police disposed of 2,388 items, consisting of various types of drugs worth an estimated RM4.5 million, seized over a period of 15 years, starting in 2008.

State police chief, Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman, said a Kualiti Alam Sdn Bhd contractor would dispose of all the drugs in Bukit Pelanduk at noon.

The disposal involves 12 types of drugs, including 6.1 kg of methamphetamine, cannabis (1.3 kg), heroin (707.5 g), ketamine (36.14 g), 398 kg of ketum leaves, and 5,853 litres of ketum water.

“The drugs were disposed of after receiving a court order at the end of the trials, and the appeal period for the sentence imposed on the offenders has also expired,” he said at a press conference in the Pahang IPK today.

Meanwhile, the Pahang Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) arrested 970 individuals involved in various drug-related offences in 615 operations statewide from October 1 to October 23.
