SEPANG, Sept 27 — Sepang's dengue cases have decreased to 51 in the 38th Epidemiological Week of this year, compared to 59 cases in the previous week.
Sepang Municipal Council President Datuk Abd Hamid Hussain said this 13.6 per cent decrease occurred from September 17 to September 23.
"For week 36, there were 57 cases, and for week 37, there were 59 cases, but it decreased to 51 cases in the following week.
"No new dengue cases were reported in the same week," he said after chairing the council's ninth monthly meeting at its headquarters earlier today.
Meanwhile, Abd Hamid said several community clean-up programmes were conducted in hotspots to eliminate Aedes breeding grounds.
"For the cumulative number of cases, it must be acknowledged there has been an increase due to community activities returning to normalcy, compared to during the Covid-19 pandemic, in addition to Sepang being a rapidly developing area.
"MPSepang requests the community remain vigilant and continue practising gotong-royong, to ensure dengue cases continue to decline and to avoid fines from the Health Department," he said.
Previously, the Ministry of Health reported the number of dengue hotspots decreased to 66 localities in the 36th Epidemiological Week, compared to 83 in the previous week.
Out of the 66 reported locations, 47 were in Selangor, 13 in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, three in Kelantan, and one in Penang, Perak, and Sabah, respectively
