SHAH ALAM, Sept 19 — Menteri Besar Selangor Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has expressed his hope that the State Legislative Assembly sittings will run smoothly and focus on bringing forth the voices of the people.
Following the opening ceremony of the first meeting (swearing-in) of the first session of the 15th state assembly, here, today, the Sungai Tua state representative also congratulated the newly-elected state speaker Lau Weng San and his deputy, Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman Mohd Kamri Kamaruddin.
“I wish congratulations to both of them, and I hope the process of Selangor State Legislative Assembly for this session will run smoothly to focus on the people’s voice, uniting people, and act as an effective legislative body,” he said in a statement today.
Earlier today, 56 state assemblymen took their oath as elected representatives during the first sitting of the 15th state assembly.
Amirudin also wished all state assemblymen the best in carrying out their duties as elected representatives.
“At the same time, it will officially mark the beginning of the first sitting of the 15th Selangor State Legislative Assembly,” he said.
In the recent Selangor state election on August 12, Pakatan Harapan won 32 seats while its ally Barisan Nasional captured two others. Perikatan Nasional, comprising Bersatu and PAS, won the remaining 22 seats.
