SHAH ALAM, Sept 8 — Dusun Tua could be a key tourism destination in Selangor if its attractions are properly preserved and conserved.

Its assemblyman Datuk Johan Abd Aziz said he recently met with Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing to highlight the need to improve and upgrade infrastructure in some of the tourist hotspots there.

Among the key destinations, he said, are Gunung Nuang, Sungai Gabai, Sungai Manggis, Sungai Congkak and Sungai Pangsun.

“There are also three hot springs that require upgrading of infrastructure for the comfort of visitors and to ensure the attractions are preserved,” he said.

In addition, he said various fruit orchards within the constituency need to be maintained, particularly during peak season when the locations welcome scores of visitors.

In line with efforts to boost the constituency’s tourism potential, Johan said the issue of traffic congestion must also be addressed via a proper traffic dispersal plan.

He noted roads surrounding Hulu Langat, which are already congested as they are, can be worse during holidays.

“For example, I received complaints recently that in Batu 14, Hulu Langat, the congestion stretched as far as 6km.

“I understand a working paper pertaining to the traffic dispersal plan in Batu 14 is ready, and we will hold a meeting with the Hulu Langat Public Works Department soon to discuss supplementary proposals.

“Besides that, the construction of a flyover to disperse traffic at the Batu 9 junction in Hulu Langat is expected to be completed by May 2026, involving an allocation of RM100 million,” he said.
