SELAYANG, Aug 31 — A total of RM65.31 million in assessment tax was collected by the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) in the first seven months of this year.
Its president Datuk Mohd Yazid Sairi said the figure makes up 57.29 per cent of the RM114 million being targeted for overall collection this year.
"MPS has also collected RM8.59 million, or 71.55 per cent, of the RM12 million in assessment tax arrears," he said.
For bill payments for the second half of the year, Yazid said the council has delivered over 67,000 emails to taxpayers and 36,752 SMSes as reminders.
"We have also repossessed assets belonging to 1,535 account holders beginning July 1," he said.
Yazid added that up to July, MPS had collected RM357,748.68 in business licensing fees via 953 transactions through the MYMPS portal.
