KLANG, Aug 29 — The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) has identified approximately 46,994 commercial and residential accounts that have not paid their property assessment taxes as of June this year.

As a result, its legal affairs deputy director, Muhammad Azlan Ab Malek, advised property owners to make prompt payments, to avoid their properties from being seized.

He added the council is aggressively ramping up its property assessment tax collection efforts by establishing special teams to ensure residents are aware and make their payments on time.

"We understand the current needs of the public in conducting transactions at counters, which is why we offer online services to facilitate property assessment tax payments.

"MPK also provides platforms like JomPay and iPay to make it easier for the public to make payments without having to physically go to any of our counters," Muhammad Azlan said during a repossession operation earlier today.

The operation saw council personnel seize a 24-hour restaurant along Jalan Selat Selatan in Pandamaran, due to the non-payment of RM21,000 in property assessment taxes, dating back eight years.
