Rebel yell as Hulu Selangor Bersatu chief quits party to support Batang Kali BN candidate

SHAH ALAM, Aug 11 — Many were surprised when Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's Hulu Selangor division chief announced he was leaving the party during a Pakatan Harapan rally yesterday night.

MalaysiaKini reported Md Anuar Mohd Nor as also taking the opportunity to express support for Barisan Nasional's (BN) candidate for the Batang Kali seat, Datuk Mohd Isa Abu Kasim, in the Selangor State Election's tomorrow.

"I resigned at 4pm today (yesterday). This decision was made after much contemplation because what was done to me was unreasonable and illogical.

"What happened was akin to being toyed with by cartel groups, which has left me baffled," he said.

Previously, Bersatu's Hulu Selangor division was left reeling amid allegations that Muhammad Muhaimin Harith Abdullah Sani was associated with Perikatan Nasional's (PN) chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali's cartel, during the announcement for the seat's candidate.

Subsequently, there were protests involving the burning of PN flags and three Bersatu members in Hulu Selangor were given a three-year membership suspension for sabotaging the state election campaign.

On August 7, Sinar Harian reported that Bersatu Supreme Leadership Council Muhammad Faiz Na’aman had resigned and left the party, as he claimed the candidate selection process was biased and favoured certain cartels.

He added there was a rebellion in more than nine of Selangor Bersatu's divisions, which included acts of burning PN flags as a protest against the candidate screening committee.
