Madani Medical Scheme to cover 11 more districts

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 8 — The Madani Medical Scheme will be expanded to 11 other districts from the second week of August, said Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa.

The scheme will be launched in Kota Setar and Kuala Muda in Kedah; Kuala Terengganu and Kuala Nerus in Terengganu; Seremban, Negeri Sembilan; Kota Bharu and Pasir Mas in Kelantan; Kuantan in Pahang; Melaka Tengah in Melaka; Seberang Perai Tengah in Penang; and Perlis.

She said in a statement today private medical clinics in the districts can register as panels under the Madani Medical Scheme by visiting the ProtectHealth website or contacting 03-8687 2525.

The Madani Medical Scheme began on June 15 in 10 districts — Gombak, Hulu Langat, Klang, Petaling and Kuala Lumpur; Kinta in Perak; Timur Laut in Penang; Johor Bahru in Johor; Kota Kinabalu in Sabah; and Kuching in Sarawak.

Dr Zaliha said the scheme is offered automatically to recipients of the Rahmah Cash Aid initiative, especially for primary care services for acute cases.

The free services include consultation, checkups, medicine, procedures and referrals to private medical clinics, she said.

Over 700 private clinics have registered as panels under the Madani Medical Scheme.

Dr Zaliha expects the scheme to benefit 700,000 households, with an allocation of RM100 million.

The allocation for the second half of the year is up to RM250 per household, RM125 for the elderly (without spouses), and RM75 for single individuals.

“To ensure fast and efficient access, those eligible only need to bring their MyKad to Madani Medical Scheme panel clinics to receive free outpatient treatment for acute cases,” she said.
