PARIT BUNTAR, Aug 8 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today announced a Padi Price Subsidy Scheme (SSHP) rate hike from RM360 to RM500 per tonne of padi produced, effective tomorrow.
Anwar said with the increase, padi farmers in the country can receive at least RM1,700 per metric tonne of padi produced, giving them higher income.
“This is the biggest increase in history. The rate was increased when I was finance minister long ago,” he said at the launch of Sentuhan Agro Madani here today.
Also present was Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.
