More than 600 private clinics registered under Madani medical scheme

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 3 — More than 600 private clinics have registered under the Madani Medical Scheme as of Aug 1, according to ProtectHealth Corporation in a statement today.

It said since the scheme was introduced, engagement sessions have been held with the relevant state representatives, government agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), associations and community leaders nationwide.

"The aim of the engagement session is to raise awareness on the benefits of this scheme and the government's efforts to improve access to acute primary care services in the private sector for those in the low-income group.

"To date, over  28,000 B40 households have sought treatment under the Madani Medical Scheme," said the company which is implementing the scheme.

This scheme offers free outpatient treatment for acute cases to Rahmah Cash Aid recipients where they can seek treatment at private medical clinics registered under the scheme.

According to the statement, as of July 2023, ProtectHealth has held briefings at 70 health clinics and 186 private (GP) clinics in 10 districts.

Six  briefings were held for residents of People's Housing Programmes or Public Housing Projects (PPAs) and local communities that predominantly comprise B40 households.

These include the Pangsapuri Sri Kasih PPR, the Taman Kajang Sentral PPR and the Taman Medan Jaya PPR.

The scheme is also being expanded to other districts such as Kota Bharu, Pasir Mas in Kelantan; Kuala Terengganu and Kuala Nerus in Terengganu, Kuantan in Pahang, Melaka Tengah in Melaka, Seremban in Negeri Sembilan, Kota Setar and  Kuala Muda in Kedah, Seberang Perai Tengah in Penang and Perlis, read the statement.
