LLSB initiates legal action over accusations on SMG

By Selangor Journal Team

SHAH ALAM, July 31 — Landasan Lumayan Sdn Bhd (LLSB), the master developer for Selangor Maritime Gateway (SMG), has initiated legal action against those who have been issuing slanderous remarks against the firm pertaining to the project implementation.

In a statement to Selangor Journal, LLSB said it will be serving a writ of summons to the parties in question within a week from today.

It added that the decision was made taking into consideration that the slanders were malicious in nature and intended to tarnish the company’s reputation.

"LLSB has received several reports of old accusations and allegations about SMG being reposted by irresponsible quarters on Facebook and Youtube.

"The allegations and slanders were clearly an attempt by certain quarters to rehash the same issue over and over again despite us having provided an explanation previously," it said today.

LLSB, which is wholly owned by the Selangor Menteri Besar (Incorporated) or MBI, did not specifically name the individuals that have been identified to have made the comments on social media.

However, it is believed that it is in reference to allegations that the implementation of the RM700 million SMG project, which is aimed at cleaning and developing the Klang River, did not go through a transparent tender process.

In its statement, LLSB stressed that approvals for all projects in relation to SMG were done in a transparent manner and in compliance with all procedures, including guidelines set by MBI.

"LLSB constantly practices good governance in the operation of its duties, and is responsible for all projects, including issues related to the environment.

"This is proven through the various environmental awards at the domestic and international levels that we have won.

"It is our practice to always manage all projects in a transparent and organised manner, and with integrity, in order to meet the objectives outlined by the state government," it said, adding that all matters concerning SMG are closely monitored by the state.

SMG is a long-term, integrated river cleaning and development project that aims to add value and improve the socioeconomic opportunities along Klang River, spanning 56km from Mid Valley in Kuala Lumpur to Port Klang.
