PETALING JAYA, July 26 — The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has recorded a strong financial performance with a net reserve position of RM108.87 million, as of June this year.

Its mayor Mohamad Azhan Md Amir said this was the result of prudent spending practices, which will be further improved to ensure effective service delivery.

“The RM108.87 million also includes other expenditure achievements, such as RM86.61 million in developments, compared to the total estimated revenue collection of RM404.82 million for facility projects.

“This is indicative of MBPJ’s capability in providing efficient services while meeting the needs of all Petaling Jaya residents,” he said during the council’s full meeting, earlier today.

Mohamad Azhan also reported MBPJ recorded a significant increase in non-tax revenue, which shows Petaling Jaya residents are increasingly adopting the current trend of online payments.

"It was a substantial increase to RM54.03 million as of June, compared to RM46.39 million during the same period last year,” he said.
