AMPANG JAYA, July 25 — More than 80,000 land ownership offer letters (5A notices) have been approved by the state government since 2008.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said this has brought relief to residents who have been waiting for many years to own the land they occupy, as well as addressing the issue of squatter settlements.

"From 2008 onwards until July last year, I estimate over 80,000 land ownership cases in the state have been provided with assistance, including areas that were formerly considered illegal settlements, did not meet requirements, or were under temporary ownership.

"We have managed to resolve many issues, and that is why today we no longer face these common issues, which were prevalent before 2008 like squatter problems," he said.

Amirudin was speaking at the ceremony for the presentation of 5A notice approval letters to Taman Keramat residents, at Dewan MPAJ Taman Keramat in Ampang Jaya yesterday.

"Alhamdulillah, we have been able to reduce squatter settlements significantly, with 80,000 land ownerships at a cost of RM1,000 per plot. As long as they are not encumbered or sold, the ownership remains at the same cost," he said.

Earlier, the Menteri Besar handed over the letters, which extend the lease by 99 years, to 46 applicants after approval was granted at the Gombak Land and District Office earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Amirudin urged the recipients to fully utilise the approval granted to them, and make the effort to settle the payments, in order to avoid losing their lands.
